CBL is an outreach basketball league for intercity men, ages 18 and older. CBL will serve as an outlet to regain brotherhood, redirect lives, and repair the breach, one player at a time.

Team Owner Registration

Season 8 will again be another competitive year of the CBL.
Below are a few of the details of our league:
​
Shot clock: There will be a 24-second shot clock all-year round.
​
Playoffs: All teams will make the playoffs. The regular season will decide playoff seating. All rounds will be one game, head to head for the chance to play in the 2023 CBL Championship 3 game series!

Trades: Teams will be able to trade players as long as both coaches and/or team-owner agree. If a player quits—he cannot join another team unless former-team agrees to release him. Trades may take place up until the first week of the playoffs begin.

Roster: 10 is the maximum number of players per team. Once playoff-roster is submitted - it is set and locked.
Eligibility
A. Players in CBL must be eighteen (18) years of age or older prior to the start of league play.

Equipment/Uniforms
A. All team members must have matching and complete team uniforms (tops, bottoms) at all times.
No t-shirts allowed during official games.
B. Uniforms must have team name and/or logo and number.
C. Any player not in uniform will not be permitted to play.
D. Players are expected to wear the same number for the entire season.
E. Uniforms will be given to All-Star game players for the duration of the All-Star game.
General Playing Rules
A. Every team must have a coach/team manager. The coach cannot be a playing member. If a player stands as the coach they are not permitted to play that game.
a. In the event the team does not have a coach they must forfeit their game.
B. Line-ups must be turned in to the Scorekeeper at least 10 minutes prior to game time. Line-ups must indicate last name, first name and the jersey number.
C. Games will begin with a jump ball, with all tie ups also being decided with a jump ball.
D. A total of four (4) Time-Outs will be allowed per game. (2) Time-Outs per half, (1) may carry over.
E. At minimum (4) players must be on the court and ready to play at game time or the game will be declared a forfeit. Players in the bleachers, parking lot or outside are not eligible. Teams MAY NOT use a time out to delay the start of a game. There will not be a grace period for late players to arrive before declaring a forfeit.
F. If a team forfeits two (2) league games due to lack of players at the start of a regularly scheduled game, the team will be dropped from the league with no refund of entry fee and all teams scheduled to play the offending team for the remainder of the season will receive a win by forfeit. Make-up games can be agreed on by Official Board and Team Managers.
G. Illegal players will result in a forfeit by the violating team. (i.e. underage players, suspended players)
H. Cursing will not be tolerated; cursing will result in a technical foul. Two technical fouls will result in an ejection from the current game.
I. Penalties Resulting In Ejection
ï‚· Fighting will result in immediate ejection from the game and the league will decide if player is allowed to return to play for the remainder of the season.
ï‚· If a player is ejected from (2) games for any reason he will be permanently released from the league.
J. Blood Rule – a player, coach or official who is bleeding or who has blood on their uniform shall be prohibited from participating further in the game until appropriate treatment can be administered. If medical care or treatment is administered in a reasonable length of time, the individual will not have to leave the game. The length of time considered reasonable is left to the official’s judgment. Uniform rule violations will not be enforced if a uniform change is required. However, players should be prepared with a like colored t-shirt or jersey on standby.
K. The official shall: • Stop the game and allow treatment if injured person would affect the continuation of play. • Immediately call a coach or other authorized person to the injured player. • Apply the rules of the game regarding substitutions, re-entry, and shorthanded player if necessary. CBL will have a medical care specialist available for each game.
Time Allotment
A. There will be a 2-minute warm up period allowed prior to each game (time permitting).
B. An official game shall consist of four 10 minute quarter with a running clock. The running clock will stop for all timeouts. Whistles will stop the clock only in the final 2 minutes of 2nd half (If a team has a 20 point lead the clock will not stop).
C. A four (4) minute half time will be observed.
D. All substitutions must check in at the scorer’s table and wait for an official to allow them to enter the game.
E. Overtime – Any game ending in a tie will be continued with a two (2) minute overtime. One additional time-out will be awarded per team, per overtime. The running clock stops only for timeouts and during the last minute of the overtime.
F. Tie-Breaker Procedure If the game is still tied, a sudden death period will be played until any point(s) is scored.
G. League Directors reserves the right to call the game at any time.
Conduct/Discipline Policy
A. Any Player, coach or manager ejected from any league game will be suspended for the remainder of current game.
B. Players, coaches or managers who have been ejected/suspended must leave the facility and grounds immediately or the team will forfeit the game, and must not return until the completion of the suspension.
C. Suspensions will carry over from season to season. Example: A player suspended for the final game of the season will also be suspended for the first game of the next season.
D. Physical violence, especially attacks on a game or tournament official immediately before, during or after a game or fights/confrontations between players/teams will result in an immediate one (1) year suspension and/or banishment from the Christian Basketball League.
E. The officials have the authority to remove a player, coach, manager or spectator from a game and/or forfeit the game due to unsportsmanlike conduct. This shall include, but is not limited to, profanity, threats of any kind toward the officials or scorekeeper, fighting (before, during or after the game), any intoxicated condition detected by the officials before or during the game or any flagrant foul as determined by the officials.
F. The CBL prohibits the use of alcohol in its facilities or in the parking lot. Smoking is prohibited in any City of Akron Facility.
Protests
A. Protests based on interpretation of the rules and player eligibility will be accepted. Protests based on judgment calls will not be accepted.
B. All protests must be executed in the following manner:
• The notification of intent to protest must be submitted to the scorekeeper before The CBL reserves the right to add, delete or amend the rules and regulations at any time for the betterment of the program. The scorekeeper must make a note on the score sheet as to what is being protested and notify the officials that game is being played under protest.
• If protesting player eligibility you must submit the first and last name and the number of the player in question. If the player is found ineligible the offending team will forfeit the game in question. Note: Both line-ups will be checked for eligibility.
C. There will be no refund of any fees or league dues to team/player or coach for any reason, unless otherwise stated by CBL board.
D. The CBL reserves the right to exclude any team/player or coach from eligibility to participate in CBL league play without refund of any fees or league dues.
